Hillsdale management email — redacted extract
September 15, 2026. Jeremiah Gregory, Regional General Manager, Hillsdale Shopping Center / Northwood Retail, to Troy Wilkes.
Hi Troy,
I am in receipt of the documentation you provided our security department, and have reviewed the relevant documents for Hillsdale, thank you for providing these and the history of your accommodation at the property.
I acknowledge the approval letter attached dated July 27, 2001, was issued by Hillsdale Shopping Center management and I am happy to continue the terms that were agreed upon at that time. However, I have received several complaints over the last few months that I want to address with you and set expectations so we can continue honor the approval letter and not revoke as listed in condition 7.
Multiple tenant employees around the shopping center, as well as a few customers of the shopping center, have called or written in to complain about your behavior while roller blading through the center. Our security team has also witnessed similar incidents as described in the complaints. The complaints involve your high speed as you’re roller blading through the shopping center, and that you seem to be pretending like you’re going in a pedestrian’s direction, and switch directions at the last moment before you collide with them. As you can probably understand, this could easily scare our other customers and tenants alike. I understand these complaints are just one side of the story, but I would like to set expectations for you as outlined below so you can continue your accommodation here at Hillsdale Shopping Center:
- Speed: You must maintain an average speed of 3 miles per hour or less while on Hillsdale Shopping Center property: This the average pedestrian walking speed and is slow enough to not create fear or confusion with other customers, and will ensure there is not increased risk of a collision and injury. If our staff or our tenants observe you exceeding this average walking speed, we reserve the right to revoke your approval as outlined in the original approval letter.
- Badge: You must wear a badge notifying others that you are approved to roller blade within Hillsdale Shopping Center. If you have the badge provided by HSC with the approval letter, please show us a copy of it. If you no longer have a badge, please let me know so we can create one for you to wear while roller blading at the center. Failure to wear the badge will result in the revocation of your approval letter.
- Discontinue Use of the Escalators: Our team has observed you using the escalators regularly while on site. Per the approval letter, you must only use the elevators onsite to move from one floor to another. Failure to abide by this will result in the revocation of your approval letter.
- Behavior: While within the shopping center, please be mindful of pedestrians and people around you while roller blading in the shopping center. If you get too close to pedestrians in the shopping center, it can create unnecessary fear and confusion for our other customers.
While we’re happy to honor this accommodation for you, if it regularly causes other customers and tenants to be in fear of getting hit or injured while you’re in the center, we have an obligation to protect our other customers as well and may have to ask you to leave or limit your visits to Hillsdale to the outdoor sidewalks where rollerblading is generally allowed. I’m hopeful that if you adhere to the original approval letter terms and follow the expectations I’ve listed above, we can continue your accommodation at Hillsdale Shopping Center.
Since I am relatively new to the center and unaware of your history while rollerblading at the center, I am unable to sign the other acknowledgment letter you sent for our signature.
All the best,
Jeremiah Gregory
Regional General Manager
